Hi, we’re Adam and Ava.We live upstairs with our dog Juneau, and the garden suite downstairs iswhere our guests stay.
The house sits at the top of a quiet street next to a creek and a set of stairs that drop into the park. You can hear the water from the patio. Grouse Mountain is five minutes up the road, and the hiking starts at the front door.
We’ve stayed in a lot of Airbnbs over the last ten years, so we set the suite up the way we’d want it. That means good mattresses, a proper kitchen, fast wifi and a backyard you won’t want to leave. We’re right upstairs if you need anything.

The living room
We set the suite upfor slow mornings.
It’s about 1,000 square feet and takes up the whole garden level of our house. The living room has a gas fireplace and big sliding doors onto the patio, and the kitchen is newly finished with everything you’d need to cook a proper dinner.
There’s a king in the main bedroom and a queen plus a sofa bed in the second. Both bathrooms have walk-in showers and heated floors, which you’ll appreciate in January.

Walk through the suiteand out to the sauna.
Turn the model around, zoom in, and tap any room to see a photo of it. The patio runs along the back, and stone steps lead down through the garden to the sauna. Switch to evening to see it with the lamps on.
Building the floor plan

Finish the day inthe cedar sauna.
It’s an eight-foot Nootka barrel in western red cedar, and it sits at the back of the garden where the yard meets the trees. There’s no fire to build. You touch the screen and press Start, and about twenty minutes later it’s ready.
It’s shared with us, and you can use it whenever you like. The cold shower beside the deck is there for between rounds.

“The outdoor space is a fabulous bonus and we enjoyed using the sauna every morning. … we only wish we had chosen to stay longer!”
The backyard runs straightinto the forest.
It’s fully fenced and shared with us. Most guests end up on the patio with a coffee, or in the hammock listening to the creek.

“The whole aesthetic of the suite was beautiful and then you step out to the backyard, which is completely magical! … One of the few AirBnBs that feels like it’s actually better than the pictures!”
